Apparently this is the proper way to test the smoke alarm.
I guess I should be glad that it was only a replica or I might have a skylight now.

well....I had to do this on saturday at 3:00 AM as one of mine decided to have a fault...(dead battery?) NO fun to have them going off for no reason for 2 hrs!
UGH!
With a skylight you would save on the electric bill, but you would be in trouble when it rains.
